Soak the Foot:
Soak the affected foot in hot water to remove bacteria and keep the swelled area clean. Epsom salts are added to help develop, the skin cells and make it easier to remove the ingrown toenail. The foot must be soaked about 3-4 times a day.
Apple Cider Vinegar Wash:
Apple cider vinegar wash can be a useful method to treat an ingrown toenail. If soaking the foot does not work as well as you’d hoped, try adding a quarter cup of the vinegar in the water before soaking. You can also apply diluted apple cider vinegar to the wounded area. The diluted version of the liquid will get rid of any infections or possible infection but it would get clear of all the bacteria, which is why it is recommended that you add the vinegar in warm water and soak your foot.
Cotton Ball Method:
- Soak your foot in hot water (add Epsom salts).
- Make sure you trim the parts around the ingrown area. Toenails with curved or pointy edges can be harmful to the ingrown area and worsen them.
- Take a piece of small cotton and push it into the ingrown area under your toenail. Try to use something pointy to ensure the cotton ball enters your toenail properly but make sure you don’t hurt yourself. Make sure you enter just the right amount of cotton. It should be showing slightly above the toenail.
- Remove the cotton daily, clean the area and replace with a new cotton ball to reduce chances of infection.
You can apply baby oil tea tree oil or coconut oil to soften the ingrown area to make you day to day activities possible without the pain of the toenail. This can be a useful method because it provides your toenail with a short term avoidance of pain and it slowly allows the toe to heal itself. Make sure you massage the toenail daily for success.
Ingrown toenails are difficult to deal with. There are many methods you can use to heal it and it is an issue most people take seriously due to the amount of immense pain that Is caused by it. Make sure you cut your toe nails and wear shoes that are a little less tight to keep your toenails healthy and away from pain.
